My Friend Flicker

So it turns out I started feeling bad for the flicker and bought him a nesting box. (It turns out the house wouldn’t have been a suitable nest even if I hadn’t kicked him out. There’s no bottom for the eggs so he would have just kept pecking holes in neighborhood houses trying to find a place.) I hadn’t mentioned it because, like the lasik, I wanted some form of success to report. I finally got some today.

Flicker at Nesting Box
He and the Mrs. were both at and in the box. I don’t know if I scared them off by taking the photos (d’oh!) but both flew off as I was filming (cautiously across the street- I’m not as dumb as I act sometimes). So now we play the waiting game some more to see if they come back and decide it’s the right home for them. If the flicker’s initial attempt at nesting by poking holes in our house has taught me anything it’s that he’ll be back.

Also, you can see my totally awesome patching job at the corner of the foreground window.

Just watched all 3 extended Lord of the Rings movies last night

I have nothing to report
