Thanks to the incredible selection of Smithsonian Folkways music on emusic and a TMBG song I got aquainted with Phil Ochs. Of course I went for Changes right off. The next song I got was I Shoulda Known Better, which is a very little known Beatles song.

Now, Phil did a cover of it at a festival as a demonstration that not all pop “oriented” music is lacking in lyric quality. Well, with such rocking version by a folk singer, I was eager to hear the Beatles’ version. Various methods of searching failed, but by pure chance one day I heard it on the radio. Talk about cardboard. Think Pat Boone doing a Beatles song. Now I see why it is so unavailable compared to the rest of their selection.
